Geo III Mahogany Longcase Long Case Grandfather Clock

19th century
Description

A handsome longcase clock dating from around 1800 by William Hayler of Chatham, Kent.

It has a very smart case in nicely figured mahogany. It is in good unrestored condition and has retained its original finish. As with the best clocks of this period it has a long trunk door with a nice moulded edge, a paneled base and brass inlaid flutes to the trunk and hood columns.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very smart silvered dial. It has subsidiary seconds and date dials and the all important strike/silent selector to the arch.

The case is in good original condition with just a few signes of age and use. The movement is in good running order and keeping good time. There are some light surface cracks to the dial but these are not too noticable.

The maximum dimensions are:
