Fusee Gpo Wall Clock 1930'S

1920 - 1940
Description

A 1930s Fusee dial clock with a 12" dial in a solid mahogany, dovetailed case, with a very thick wooden rim and brass bezel.

The Case

In solid mahogany and stands 15” in width x 5.5" in depth. It is in beautiful original condition well waxed and polished over the years maintaining a nice colour. The clock has an opening side and bottom door, a complete back box complete and a steel hanging bracket at the top.

The Dial

In original condition, including its GPO mark, which and 12” across. It’s painted white with Roman numerals and is covered by glass in a heavy brass bezel.

The Movement

An eight-day time-only Fusee, it is a thick plated heavy built movement with sturdy pillars and very fine crutch; a sign of a top-quality old movement.

The Fusee is run via the original cord; and she still retains her original pendulum and key. The mechanism has been ultrasonically cleaned and had a new spring added by myself and is now running strongly and keeping good time over the eight days.

Overall, a very nice piece which has not been tampered with since new. It will radiate understated elegance on any wall.

If you require any further information, please just ask. I am happy to send more photographs or can video the clock running, if desired. You are also very welcome to come and view the clock in person.

As with all my clocks, this one is sold with a ‘back-to-base’ 3-month guarantee. I also offer future clock servicing, which I carry out personally at a heavily discounted rate.

Delivery or postage of this item can be arranged at cost price.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
