It strikes hours on a bell and repeats hours via the pull cord. The fine dial, with its original ornate spandrels, incorporates “Strike/Silent” control in the arch; mock pendulum below “XII” and date aperture above “VI”. Original blued steel hands. Thomas Gardner: (active: 1740-1770) of The Minories, London. A longcase clock by him can be seen in the Virginia Museum. He died in 1770.
