A large and early original antique French figural clock featuring a hound and his master. It is beautifully modelled and finished in ormolu (gilded bronze). The hound is resting in his kennel with his master looking on in a country setting. To the left of the kennel is the dogs bowl. The base is modelled with elaborate scrolls and leaves and the pendulum can be glimpsed swinging through the front. The case is marked with the movement serial number to the reverse.

The dial is enamel on copper with its original blued steel moon hands and has the retailers signature.

The French movement is of good quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. The retailers mark 'L.D.'is on the movement backplate. Pendulum is an old replacement. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is good with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some wear to the original gilding. The bezel opening of the case has a couple of holes that do not detract and the movement retaining ring is an old replacement. The dial has a slight chip and a faint hairline near the 3 o'clock.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
