George III Oak & Mahogany Moon Dial Longcase Clock

Description

Here we have a very smart Oak & Mahogany 8 day longcase clock with an attractive painted dial showing the phases of the moon. It is by Rowley & Son of Shrewsbury.

The case is mainly in oak with some decorative inlay and mahogany veneer. It has a particularly nice shell inlaid to the trunk door.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has subsidiary seconds and date dials. The movement is rather dirty but is in full working order with all functions working as they should.

The case is in good original un-restored condition but as you would expect after 200 years it has a few knocks and chips. There is also a small piece of molding missing where the trunk meets the base.

The maximum dimensions are:

227cm(89.5") high

56cm(22") wide

25cm(10") deep
