Fusee Wall Dial Clock, George V, Lovely Condition

1920 - 1940
Sold by Clockwise
Description

Clockwise is delighted to offer you a simply stunning and tastefully restored wire driven, eight day fusee clock dating from 1932. This is a government issue clock complete with the George V cypher to the dial and the gorgeous mahogany case, with bottom and side door, houses the original bezel with its bevelled edge glass. The dial surround is attached to the main case by four wooden pegs. The twelve inch dial has been tastefully restored and the original hands complete the stunning appearance. Inside the movement has been stripped, rebushed, cleaned and oiled through and is covered by my three year guarantee.

This is a rare find, its provenance can be dated thanks to the original note attached to the inside door reading ' Employment Exchange, Mare Street Hackney, Women's Dept, 1st Floor, 4-2-32' And the current Jobcentre is still at the same address!

Rather than trusting a courier of any sort I prefer collection or I can deliver regionally/nationally. I do use Royal Mail as a courier and post nationally so this tracked and insured service is available, please enquire for a quote. All antique clocks require delicate handling and specific setting up so it is far better for a dealer to meet a client and talk them through the process, or set the clock up for them, rather than leave the client struggling at the other end on their own but this redoubtable clock will be straightforward to set up for you. I am always available for a video chat should there be any problems.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
