A Fusee 'English Dial' Wall Clock with a Bowed Dial and Mahogany Case. Signed Burlington, London. Circa 1840.

19th century
Description

An attractive early Victorian fusee Dial clock.

The eight day duration, gut fusee movement with Anchor Recoil escapement, knopped pillars and shouldered plates.

Behind a 12" diameter, bowed painted iron dial with outer minute track and Roman hour numerals. The centre being signed "BURLINGTON, LONDON". Also having matching 'Open moon' hands and a cast brass, locking bezel with bowed glass.

The mahogany case is of good colour and has a narrow bezel surround. The back box has a side access door and a rounded bottom with a curved door.

The dial paint has been repaired but retains most of its base paint. The bezel lock needs attention but is original and the rear wooden cover to it is missing. The back box has signs of historic repairs and the doors have been replaced. The movement is in working condition but would benefit from a complete overhaul.

The price is for the clock in its current working condition. The price for the clock with the case and movement fully restored and guaranteed will be £2450.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
