A rare and very fine quality mid-19th century GIANT French CARRIAGE CLOCK timepiece in superb original condition. The beautiful case is finely engraved all over, including the handle and has kept its original fire-gilt mercury gilding, whilst the eight-day movement, retains its original gilded lever platform escapement which has a particularly vibrant robust action. The large enamel dial is perfect as are the blued steel Breguet “moon” hands and the movement itself features a substantial barrel together with very thick plates.

This fine clock, which is highly recommended, is signed to the dial with an additional engraved signature: F.L. Hausburg à Paris, beneath an embossed stamp stating the maker won the Medaille d’Or in Paris, in 1827. Perfect working order and guaranteed for at least two years. (22.5cms high, handle up; 12.5cms wide; 10.5cms deep). circa 1850-60
