Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced primarily in France during the 1920s and 1930s, Rene Lalique opalescent glass is distinguished by a translucent finish that refracts light into subtle hues of blue and amber. Designs from this era frequently incorporated press-moulded geometric and nature-inspired motifs typical of the Art Deco movement.

Opalescence was created by adding specific chemical compounds, such as fluorides or bone ash, to the molten glass batch. Controlled cooling and reheating caused these compounds to crystallise, resulting in a milky translucent appearance along the raised relief elements of the moulded glass.

Authentic items produced prior to 1945 generally feature acid-etched, wheel-cut, or moulded signatures reading R. LALIQUE or R. LALIQUE FRANCE. Original pieces exhibit high-precision moulding, crisp decorative detail, and balanced weight without crude production seams.

Placing an opalescent bowl on a dark timber or stone surface draws out its blue tones, whereas positioning it near natural illumination highlights its milky transparency. It functions effectively as a central accent object on a sideboard, console, or display shelf.

Wash carefully by hand using lukewarm water and a non-abrasive liquid detergent, avoiding extreme temperature shifts that could induce thermal shock. Dry thoroughly with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid using mechanical dishwashers.
