This is a stunning and rare find - Clockwise is proud to have for sale this good mahogany two train trunk dial wall clock measuring 56 inches (4ft 8 inches) tall. There are case doors to each side to access the movement and a lockable trunk door above the canted base. The case has just been stripped back to bare wood and oiled/waxed. The unsigned 16 inch dial has been lightly cleaned and is excellent condition and is framed by the original cast solid brass bezel which is complete with its original working lock and key. The rack striking eight day wight-driven movement is a particular feature of this lovely piece having just been stripped, cleaned and overhauled and the full hour is struck on a lovely bell. With no maker identified on the dial the clock can still be accurately dated to circa 1820 thanks to the details on the falseplate stating 'Osborne Manufactory, Birmingham' dating this clock post 1778 when Osborne and Wilson terminated their partnership so indeed this clock could be as early as 1800. There are very few of these clocks for sale so this is an opportunity to invest in a little (or large) piece of clock history.

As usual this clock comes with my two year guarantee as standard and due to the size and weight I recommend collection or I can deliver and set up nationally at a reasonable cost. I also recommend a secondary hole being drilled into the case backboard (there are existing ones to use) just to add support to the strong steel plate the clock is currently hanging from and extend the life of the case for centuries not decades.
