Early 19th Century Mahogany Striking Twin-fusee Bracket Clock

Description

A good early 19th century BRACKET CLOCK together with its (probably original) brass-inlaid wall bracket. The mahogany case is typical of London quality with its brass-framed pad below the upper carrying handle; four good cast-brass finials; “fish scale” frets to the front; brass corners and four cast-brass feet. Of note are the unusual and finely cast side frets.

The eight-day twin fusee movement, strikes hours on a bell, repeating hours at will using the side pull cord, and is complete with its original precision brass pendulum. (Note the decoration to the bob which matches that to be found around the backplate.)

Original painted convex dial; original blued steel hands and convex glass within the cast brass bezel. A thoroughly good honest clock with many high-quality features.
