Carse Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The case has reeded quarter columns to the trunk with matching reeded columns to the hood. The clock movement is all original and has been recently fully serviced, the dial has all its original painted decoration. Most unusually the clock strikes a lesser ding to the bell on the half hour. The bell has two hammers, a normal one to the right which strikes the hours and a smaller hammer to the left which strikes on the half hour. The case is a lovely colour with good patination and a waxed finish.
The clock case has an old replacement back.
