Fine Regency Rosewood Repeating Twin Fusee Bracket Clock with Bracket

19th century
Sold by Clockwise
Description

Clockwise is proud to offer for sale this good late Regency period rosewood cased and brass-inlaid eight-day bracket clock; the case is in fantastic condition with a brass pineapple finial on a pagoda-style pediment above foliate carving and an eight-inch cream dial with Roman numerals and signed 'Martin Worcester, Wednesbury'. The case has further inlaid brasswork and stringing throughout the front and original brass 'fishscale' fretwork and decorative handles to the sides. Standing on its original brass bun feet this is a stunning clock on the eye. The dial has been tastefully restored and is complimented by original blued hands and the five pillar twin fusee repeating mechanism, strikes on the original bell which has a lovely tone. The all important travel-stop is present and the clock comes with a later mahogany bracket of extremely high quality and with a colour match that is almost too good to be true.

Martin Worcester of Wednesbury is recorded as working from the High Street from 1828 to at least 1842 and not many examples of his work come up for sale.

The clock stands 50 cm tall, 29.2 cm wide and 15 cm deep (not including the convex glass). The bracket is 41.5cm wide x 21cm deep.

Overall (and combined with the restored bracket) this is one of the nicest clocks I have offered for sale and it comes with my two year guarantee as standard.

I can post within the UK safely so please ask for a quote or the clock can be collected from Gloucester/Tewkesbury; I can also deliver regionally/nationally and set the clock up. All antique clocks require delicate handling and specific setting up so it is far better for a dealer to meet a client and talk them through the process, or set the clock up for them, rather than leave the client struggling at the other end on their own.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
