Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Perfect enamel dial and original blued steel Breguet ‘moon’ hands. The high quality ‘Corniche’ case is finely engraved to the top, sides and to the handle, retaining its original gilding. This clock comes complete with its original matching numbered (6882) key. Signed to the backplate with the Drocourt trademark.

Alfred Drocourt, perhaps the most famous of all French Carriage Clock makers, was responsible for clocks of the highest quality. The company ceased work in 1920, with a clock numbered over 35,000. This one is numbered 6882 and so it is relatively early in production terms, most likely in the period between 1865-70. A very fine carriage clock indeed.
