Stunning English Fusee Carved Timepiece

19th century
Sold by Clockwise
Description

I am delighted to offer this rare oak single fusee wall clock for sale. Having been fully restored and in amazing condition this chain driven eight day movement is within a foliate carved case over fluted curved brackets and surmounted by a swan neck pediment and brass finial. The case has a side door and lower door complete with working lock and key. The cream 8 inch dial is signed 'T. Coleman, Kington' who took over a clockmaking business located at 45 High Street, Kington, from the famed London 'Skarratt' family of clockmakers. Coleman himself was an excellent clockmaker and entrepreneur diversifying into watchmaking, a jewellery and opticians outlet along with being a gold and silversmith. His work is very rare and one of his clocks, purportedly the County Court clock, graces the Kington museum.

All my clocks come with my two year guarantee as standard.

Rather than trusting a courier of any sort I unreservedly recommend collection or I can deliver regionally/nationally. All antique clocks require delicate handling and specific setting up so it is far better for a dealer to meet a client and talk them through the process, or set the clock up for them, rather than leave the client struggling at the other end on their own.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
