Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The upper section contains opening cupboard doors with decorative linenfold carving on the sides, architectural Gothic tracery panels, heraldic shield relief carvings, and a prominent iron lock plate. A single storage drawer beneath carries a guilloche carved frieze with a central circular motif, supported on square legs. The cabinet stands 107 cm high, 127 cm wide, and 56 cm deep. Suitable for placement in a hallway, living room, or study, this piece provides practical enclosed storage while adding period character to an interior.

FAQs

A Gothic Revival carved oak cupboard typically features architectural details inspired by medieval ecclesiastical design, including pointed arches, tracery motifs, heraldic shields, and intricate relief carving.

These cupboards are traditionally crafted from solid oak using hand-joined mortise and tenon joinery, panelled door construction, wrought iron hardware, and hand-carved relief panels.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery, subtle irregularities across hand-carved panels, age-consistent wear around handles and bases, and historical iron fitments.

A carved oak cupboard functions well in an entryway or dining space when juxtaposed with neutral wall finishes, contemporary ceramics, or minimalist metal accents to balance the heavy timber detailed work.

Dust carved surfaces regularly with a soft bristle brush or microfibre cloth, apply a thin coat of natural beeswax polish annually, and position the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent wood movement.
