A very rare antique strong box in a stunning working fully restored condition.
We bring to you this very rare fully restored George Price patent strong box safe.
This fantastic quality and very secure safe is truly a museum piece and has had no expense spared in its restoration.
The George Price safe company were established in 1840, we estimate that this safe is from around 1860.
The George price safes are much rarer than Milners or Chatwood which were their direct competitor and seemingly rivals. There are multiple write ups for the George Price full history available with a quick google if you are interested in finding out more about them.
This safe features 3/16'' steel plate construction to all sides with the top being 5/16'' solid steel door. The frame of the safe is also reinforced with angle iron as shown inside which is all original. This safe also features 2 individually keyed lever box locks meaning to open the safe you need both keys. This strong box has 2 heavy duty handles either side and 1 to open the heavy door. The sizes and weight are listed below.
This lovely safe features original specification 2 tone paintwork to authentic original George Price design and colours. The safe is finished in black with beige panels to each side and top, which is finished with a gold hand painted pinstripe as a border. The paintwork is single stage paint (not lacquered) and hand polished exactly as it would have been originally.
This safe has been fully restored from bare metal, having been stripped and linished to ensure the highest quality refurbishment possible. The inside has been painted with colours that exactly match the original and the lovely original brasswork has then been highly polished.
The safe features its original pressed polished brass trademark George Price emblem, original handles & hinges and the original smoothly working locks with 2 keys per lock.
This safe is ideal for storing larger valuable items, important pap
...erwork, house deeds, birth certificates, passports, cash or even jewellery and is obviously very secure with the possibility of being able to be drilled and bolted to a floor if required.
This safe would look fabulous in a loft style apartment or vintage themed home and would certainly be an interesting talking point for guests. This item could also be used as a small coffee table with storage.
Please note; This item is in very good condition for its age but will obviously have the odd slight blemishes and here and there, however, we feel that this adds to the charm and authenticity of the item with it being antique.
