Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The case is in nicely figured mahogany with boxwood and ebony stringing. The trunk and hood have spiral turned columns the smart cast brass Corinthian capitals. The arched top hood has ball and eagle finials. The clock was originally designed to lean against a wall and therefor has no back feet.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has an unusual convex painted dial with subsidiary seconds dial and date indicator. To the arch is displayed the phases of the moon.

The movement is in good working order with all functions working as they should. The dial is in unrestored original condition. There are a few marks and the paintwork is crazed, also the numbers are a little faded.
The maximum dimensions are:
214cm (84") high excluding finial (+12cm (4.5"))
53cm (21") wide
25cm (10") deep
