Exceptional English 4-Glass 2-Train Mantel Clock of Small Size

19th century
Description

An exceptional 4-GLASS ENGLISH 2-TRAIN MANTEL CLOCK of particularly small size, housed in a beautifully figured coromandel-wood case with a decorative gilt-brass carry handle to the top.

The 8-day French movement with original (early) English platform escapement by (William F) Darling of York c.1829 (Brittens old clocks and Watches and their makers, p376) has a silvered dial (signed below the XII) with roman numerals, delicate scroll-work decoration, and black moon hands.

The whole clock is supported on four brass bun feet.

A beautiful clock – Fully restored - Recommended.

Dated: c1830-40
