This pair of mid-19th century Victorian glass lustres is made from deep red cranberry glass and clear cut crystal, featuring a rich, dark ruby colour scheme and polished reflective surfaces. Each piece takes the form of a pedestal vase with a flared circular base, a slender fluted stem, and a wide frilled rim holding hanging cut-crystal pendant drops with varied geometric facets and spear-shaped terminals. The set measures 26 cm high and 13 cm deep. Placed on a mantelpiece or a sideboard in a living room, dining room or study, these lustres provide a striking decorative accent. They catch and refract daylight or candlelight through the crystal prisms, creating subtle illumination and movement in the room. The traditional silhouettes and rich tones coordinate well with classic interior schemes, antique collections or period table displays.

Glass mantle lustres are decorative glass vessels, popular in the 19th century, featuring hanging cut-crystal prisms designed to catch and reflect light on a fireplace mantelpiece.

Cranberry glass was created by adding gold salts or chloride to molten glass, producing a deep red hue during the heating process.

Authentic Victorian pieces typically show hand-blown characteristics, including pontil marks on the base, hand-cut crystal drops, and slight irregularities in the glass thickness.

Place a pair symmetrically on a dining room sideboard, console table, or fireplace mantelpiece to introduce vibrant colour and light reflection to the room.

Clean gently with warm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and wipe the crystal drops individually using a soft microfibre cloth.
