Mahogany, Twin-fusee, Bell Striking Wall Clock

19th century
Description

Not the sort of clock you will find very often as twin-fusee clocks of this type are quite rare.

This is a lovely example by ROTHERY of HALIFAX.

The flame mahogany case is nicely polished with quality carved "ears" and a glazed aperture to the lower half of the case through which the pendulum can be seen working.

The 12", white painted dial has black Roman numerals, nicely cut hands and is signed with the maker's name.

The 8 day, chain driven twin fusee movement has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered staff and carries our usual 12mth full parts and labour guarantee.

The clock strikes the hours on a bell with a lovely crisp tone.

Rothery of Halifax is listed in "Loomes Clock Makers of the World" as working at the coal market, Halifax between 1866-71.

All cards accepted.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
