19th Cent Moon Dial Longcase Clock

Description

A handsome 19th cent oak & mahogany longcase clock with a very attractive painted dial showing the phases of the moon. The dial is signed Moore & Sons Coventry

The oak case has mahogany cross banding and nice quality reeded quarter columns to the trunk. The hood has turned columns and an elegant swan neck pediment.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a most attractive convex painted dial. In each corner are paintings showing the four seasons and in the arch the phases of the moon.

The clock needs a little restoration, there are some sections of cross banding missing, particularly to the hood. The mechanism that operates the moon dial is also missing as is the second hand.

The maximum dimensions are:

59cm(23") wide

223cm(88") high

26cm(10") deep
