18th Cent Mahogany Long Case Longcase Grandfather Clock

18th century
Description

An handsome mahogany longcase clock by William Budgen. He is listed as working in both Croydon and London from 1750 to 1824.

This clock was made when he was working in Croydon but it has all the features of a London clock of the period:

Long moulded trunk door

Double plinth base

Brass inlayed hood columns

8 Day, 5 pillar movement

Strike / silent selector

Brass Cased Weights and brass pendulum

Period brass finials.

The movement is in good working order and keeping good time. The chapter ring has an inner date track but the date hand is missing along with the operating mechanism.

The case is in lovely figured mahogany and is in good condition. There is a large hole cut in the back board behind the movement that has been filled.

The maximum dimensions are:

222cm (87.5") high

58cm (23") wide

26cm (10") deep
