Description

A handsome 18th Cent longcase clock by Nathanial Brown, Manchester. He is listed as working there from 1750 to 1800. The case is in oak with mahogany cross banding and stands on its original ogee bracket feet.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a very smart brass dial that displays the phases of the moon to the arch. It also has the unusual feature of a sweep seconds hand (see video)

The case is in good condition with only the expected minor signs of age and use. Parts of the backboards have been replaced but this has been done neatly using solid oak as the original backboard.

The movement is in good condition with all functions working and it is keeping good time.
