Large Slate Mantel Clock in Style of Greek Temple

Description

Circa 1880, a fabulous and large mantel clock designed in the architectural style of a Greek temple, featuring open Corinthian columns at each side rising from an oval base which itself has a fine brass protection plinth. Overall 46cm wide & 36.5cm tall. Slate case with brass & gilded decoration being some 21.25Kg in weight including the brass movement, key & pendulum.

14cm numerical brass dial with gilded central filigree disc. 8 day French movement chiming on spring gong having pierced circular hinged rear access door.
