Classic Mantel Clock-timepiece .

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a very small and attractive timepiece of extremely high quality. The case is constructed in the Georgian style being of Oak with a thick Mahagany 'flame' veneer, the colour and patina are perfect, Chestnut and toffee! The dial had been signed to the rear Frodsham and C then Sec? The high quality movement has been fully overhauled and does not have a pendulum you have to worry about fitting. The case features 'fish scale' frets to both sides, a fret work rear door and a full opening front. The dial is 'off white' showing Roman numerals and blued steel hands. The clock stands on 4 bracket feet and has a solid cast brass carry handle. Quite an usual clock and very small in comparison to other Bracket clocks. The Charles Frodsham connection is a mystery and perhaps someone could shed a little light on that ? There are of course many Frodshams listed in the clockmakers volumes. The quality of this fine clock does suggest London cabinet making and clockmaking.
