Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The finely painted white 12-inch metal dial is housed behind a superb heavy brass bezel with domed glass and features roman numerals; minute and five minute triangular markers to outer chapter ring; makers signature 'T Lancaster' below the XII and 'Liverpool' above the VI; original blued steel 'moon' hands typical of the period.

The movement features twin fusees and it retains it's original rather charming contoured pendulum. The clock strikes hours on a bell. Winding key supplied (see image).
The mahogany case features feather carved 'wings' to either side of the drop section.
Complete with working key.

Condition: The hinge and locking mechanism to the heavy brass bezel are strong and solid, ensuring easy opening. The dial is clear and although crackling has inevitably occurred, it is in remarkably good condition. The hands are original and in excellent condition. The movement is in good working order, striking soundly on a bell. The movement is reasonably clean (possibly cleaned 5-6 years ago). The case is also in good condition, although the securing pegs are a little loose, so care needs to be taken when transporting.
Sold in full working order.
