Regency Mahogany Inlaid Bracket Clock by Thwaites & Reed

Description

An extremely fine quality arched top mahogany English bracket or table clock with figured mahogany and boxwood string inlay to the front of the case and brass fish scale side sound frets.

The clock has an eight inch painted dish dial with the retailers name:-

The clock has a eight day, five pillar twin fusee movement with anchor escapement , pull repeat action and strike - silent mechanism. The clock has a decoratively engraved backplate border and pendulum and strikes the hours on a bell.

The movement front plate and case is stamped with the makers name and serial number:

The serial number gives the clock a date stamp of circa 1817 - 1820.

John Thwaites & George Jeremiah Reed went into partnership in 1816. Thwaites & Reed were well known and respected clock makes who also made movements for many others clock makers. Big Ben was maintained by a team of eight for over 30 years from Thwaites & Reed.

The clock movement has been cleaned and serviced and comes with a 12 month guarantee.
