Fine 2-Day Marine Chronometer by Christie and Wilson of Glasgow

Description

A Scottish mahogany, brass-bound and mounted two-day marine chronometer by Christie & Wilson, Glasgow.

The three tier mahogany box has a bone plaque signed CHRISTIE & WILSON, 618, GLASGOW, with recessed brass handles, and inlaid brass starbursts.

The 102 mm. diameter silvered dial has 56-hour up/down power reserve indiction, a subsidiary seconds dial with serial number 618 in the centre, and is signed Christie & Wilson, 54 Broomielaw, Glasgow - Number 618 is the second in the series.

Original matching blued steel hands, the 2-day fusee movement by Mercer, Earnshaw-type escapement with steel spring detent and Mercer's auxiliary, cylindrical compensation weights, helical balance spring.

Complete with tipsy key.
