19th Cent Oak & Mahogany 8 Day Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

19th cent Oak & Mahogany 8 Day Longcase Clock

A very impressive Victorian longcase clock with smart oak & mahogany case and painted convex dial but now in need of a little restoration.

It is by Thomas Easthorpe, Birmingham. He is listed as working there from 1856 to 1880.

The main items that need attention are:

• The top board is missing from the hood

• There is the usual shrinkage crack to the base.

Other than the above it is in pretty good order.

The case is oak and lovely quality. It has lots of mahogany cross banding to the base and mahogany veneer to the hood. It also has a very decorative marquetry panel to the trunk door.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a gong and has a very smart painted convex dial. The dial has a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture.

It comes complete with pendulum, weights and bell and is in good working order.

Once restored you will have a very smart clock.

The maximum dimensions are:

54cm(21“) wide

224cm(88“) high

26cm(10“) deep

You are welcome to collect but if you can’t we can arrange delivery within England and Wales for £85.00, for other destinations please email for a quotation.
