Very Attractive Small Flame Mahogany Cased Grandfather Longcase Clock with Satinwood Inlay and Swan Neck Pediment to the Hood and Turned Columns. The Painted Dial Signed Summerhayes Taunton (Somerset) with Charming Floral Decoration in Each Corner. Height 80.25in or 204cm (plus Eagle Finial).
There are 7 Entries in Brian Loomes's Book on Clockmakers for the Family of Summerhayes over the Late 18th to the Mid 19th Century. Several of them Worked out of Taunton over the Years. We Surmise that this Clock was made by Robert (1) b1784-d1857.
The 8 Day Bell Striking Movement is in Good Clean Condition and Has been Checked, Oiled and Tested to be in Full Working Condition.
