Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large Art Deco bookcase from 1930 is constructed from solid oak with a warm golden brown polish finish. The piece displays a geometric silhouette with canted upper corners, a stepped plinth base, and short bracket feet. Twin glazed doors with wooden astragals open to a two-division interior fitted with original solid oak adjustable shelves. Simple metal hinges and a small keyhole are visible on the exterior frame, while the interior lining shows a green felt or baize backing. The cabinet stands 168 cm high, 137 cm wide, and 30.5 cm deep. Position this substantial shelving unit in a study, library, or living room to store books and display ornaments behind glass protection. The slim depth allows placement in narrow hallways, alcoves, or reception rooms without obstructing circulation space while providing visible storage capacity.

Art Deco furniture from the 1920s and 1930s is characterised by clean geometric forms, bold angular outlines, and streamlined silhouettes, often constructed using solid English oak or oak veneers.

These cabinets were constructed using solid oak or wood veneers over softwood cores, featuring hand-fitted glass door panels, adjustable internal shelving mechanisms, and traditional mortise and tenon joinery.

Authentic pieces from this period typically feature canted or stepped upper shoulders, original metal latches or brass hinges, internal shelf support notches cut into the side panels, and geometric door frame mouldings.

Place the cabinet against a plain painted wall to highlight its architectural shape, using the internal shelving to organise books, ceramics, or glassware in modern living spaces or home offices.

Maintain the surface by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice per year, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources to prevent shrinkage or movement.
