Mahogany Longcase Clock with Moon Dial

19th century
Description

A lovely mahogany longcase clock with moon dial by James Glass of Bristol. He is listed as working there from 1825 to 1854.

The case is veneered in nicely figured mahogany with Tunbridgeware herringbone banding. Both the trunk and hood have full reeded columns with smart cast gilt Corinthian capitals.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a most attractive painted dial. The dial displays the phases of the moon to the arch and has subsidiary seconds dial and date indicator.

The case is in excellent condition. The movement looks to have recently been serviced and is in good working with all functions operating as they should.

The maximum dimensions are:

48cm (19“) wide

211cm (83“) high, excluding top finial (+3”)

23cm (9“) deep
