Description

On offer for sale this rare and seldom encountered Smiths Signal Centre Clock with Smiths Astral 8-day platform escapement movement, for use in wet operations rooms, dating circa 1950’s. This full military issued clock has seen service, showing some wear and tear as you would expect from Army use. 12 hour and 24-hour dial with outer movable ring for setting to Greenwich mean time. This heavy, almost armoured clock is in full working order keeping accurate time. Captive winding key still attached. Size approx. 29cm square by 11cm deep.  A rare clock for the serious military watch and military clock collector, that seldom come onto the open market.  

 Another clock of this type, ref no QSCC 125-C, is illustrated on page 144 British Military Timepieces by Konrad Knirim
