FAQs

Figural lamps featuring cherubs or putti gained immense popularity during the 19th century, drawing heavy inspiration from neoclassical and Baroque art forms that celebrated classical mythology and ornamentation.

Authentic period pieces were typically constructed from cast bronze, often featuring patinated finishes combined with gilt bronze or ormolu accents, sometimes mounted on marble or slate bases.

Authenticity is generally determined by examining the weight of the metal, the quality of the chasing and casting details, the presence of natural oxidation, and the construction methods used in the wiring ports and base.

These lamps serve as striking focal points when placed on sideboards, desks, or mantels, contrasting effectively against contemporary minimalist furniture to add a layer of historic texture and classic elegance.

Bronze components should be gently dusted with a soft, dry cloth and avoided harsh chemical cleaners to preserve the original patina, while marble bases can be wiped with a damp cloth and mild soap then dried immediately.
