Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cherub and putti motifs became prominent in European lighting during the Baroque and Rococo periods, subsequently recreated throughout 19th and early 20th-century revival movements. These fixtures draw heavily on classical iconography, featuring sculpted figures supporting floral or foliate lamp stems.

Authentic examples typically feature cast bronze or brass, combining dark patinated metal figures with gilt bronze or brass elements. Bases are frequently constructed from solid marble, slate, or onyx to provide physical stability for the heavy metalwork.

Authentic period pieces exhibit crisp hand-chased detail on the facial features and hair of the figures, paired with natural wear on high points of the patina. Construction typically involves heavy cast metal components secured with threaded iron central rods and marble mounts.

Positioning these lamps on a minimalist sideboard or contemporary console table creates a refined contrast between intricate classical metalwork and modern architecture. Pairing the bases with simple linen or silk shades tempers the ornamentation and integrates them into neutral room schemes.

Dust metal surfaces regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and avoid abrasive chemical cleaners that strip historical patination. Wipe marble bases using a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, taking care to dry the stone immediately to prevent water spots.
