Napoleon III Bronze Gilt and Porcelain Mantel Clock by Japy Freres

Description

An extremely good quality French Napoleon III finely cast bronze gilt mantel clock with foliate design throughout, tapering reeded columns and masked mount stood on 'c' scroll feet finished with pineapple finials and decorative porcelain urn. The clock has finely painted inset serve style porcelain panels of flowers and wheat sheafs with a central panel to the front of a man, woman and dog within a pink border.

The clock has a white enamel dial with gilt Roman numerals and a French eight day movement which strikes the hours and half hours on a bell.

The movement back plate is stamped with the makers name:-

Howell James & Company were jewellers and silversmiths based in Regent Street in London which operated between 1819 and 1911. They showed at the London and Paris exhibitions.

The clock movement has been cleaned and serviced and comes with a 12 month guarantee.
