Description

A beautiful quality late 18th century French MANTLE CLOCK in full working order.

The compact case features ormolu mounts to the white marble base with azure blue glass panels behind ormolu grillwork. The 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell, with its good enamel dial and ornate ormolu hands. Signed to dial and movement. 13ins high; 7.25ins wide; 4.25 ins deep.

***Joseph Leonard ROQUE worked in Paris in the mid-late 18th century. He was made maitre-horolger in 1769 and later, Horologer du Roi. Many of his clocks can are found in various museums including the Musee de Louvre in Paris. he died circa 1790
