Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the Regency era.
The very fine quality movement has twin trains, both chain-driven fusee, striking hours on a bell. The good convex dial retains its original paintwork and is signed: T. Lake Taunton. Perfect working order and guaranteed for at least two years.
Thomas Lake worked in Taunton from 1793, based in East Street from 1822 and signed his work "& Son" (as here) from 1839 until 1852.
