Regency Period Mahogany Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

Here we have a very elegant longcase clock dating from the Regency period around 1810. It is veneered in the most beautiful mahogany and has a very attractive painted dial.

The clock stands on its original splay bracket feet and has boxwood stringing to the base. The slim trunk has reeded corners and a beautifully figured door that has retained its original lock, key and ivory keyhole escutcheon. The hood has slim reeded columns with brass capitals. The arched top has a fretted decoration and brass ball finials.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has subsidiary dials for seconds and the date. In the arch and the dial corners are some very attractive painted scenes.

The case is in excellent condition and the movement is in good working order and complete with pendulum, weights, bell and winding key.

The maximum dimensions are:

51cm(20“) wide

229cm(90“) high

25cm(10“) deep
