A Late 19th Century Mahogany Table Clock With Military Interest.

Of military interest: A late 19th century mantel clock in a mahogany case, the case with a pedimented top over a moulded cornice with below a large dial with a circular glazed door with a decorative gilt inner bezel, white enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals, plain blued steel hands, and a recessed central section with two winding arbours and a visible Brocot escapement, over a moulded plinth base. To the rear a circular gilt metal door over the eight day two train movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell by S. Marti et Companie, with a pendulum and bronze bell.
 
To the front have later been applied a presentation inscribed silver plaque and two military insignia of the East Lancashire Regiment 2nd Mounted Infantry. The plaque, dated 1913, records the regiments time at Harrismith in South Africa.
