A Napoleon III cut brass inlaid red tortoiseshell mantel clock in the Louis XIV style. The red tortoiseshell and cut brass inlaid case surmounted by a seated putti, the sunburst pendulum visible through the glazed door opening to gilt dial with enamel Roman numeral tablets, the inside of the rear door & floor finely inlaid. The eight day movement, numbered 2074, rack striking the hour & half hour on a bell. The whole dressed with re-gilded bronze mounts. Circular ‘Japy Freres 1849’ seal to movement.
