Description

For restoration, a longcase clock movement by Simon De Charmes, London. He worked from Warwick Street, Charing Cross in the first half of the 18th Cent.

The good quality, 8 day, five pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a very smart brass dial with date window and subsidiary seconds dial. It also has a strike silent selector to the arch.

The main problem with the movement is that some of the striking train is missing, the barrel, the bell and front works are there but three wheels and the hammer are missing. The going train looks to all be there (but no guarantees). The strike/silent mechanism is also missing. It has a set of hands but probably not original.

The dial is 12” x 16.5”
