Large Industrial Factory Dial Wall Clock (England, C. 1880)

Description

A substantial 23 inch diameter factory wall clock dating to the second half of the 19th Century. It has a turned mahogany rim with a rectangular back box. The 18 inch diameter dial is signed by the makers Gaunt and Sons of Barnsley. It has an 8 day a frame plate chain fusee movement that is wound and set from the rear by a hinge opening case. Benjamin Gaunt is listed as a maker in Barnsley in 1871.

Current Condition

The case has been repolished and waxed, the movement has been fully serviced and is guaranteed for 12 months. The clock would have originally wound from a door in the rear.
