Mantel Clock by the Famous Henry Marc

19th century
Description

A fine Mantel clock with a 'silk suspension' and carry handle. These clock were know in France as the 'Pendule Portative' or Campaign Clock. The case of this clock is constructed of Oak and has Rosewood veneers with fancy boxwood inlays and ebonised details. The bezel and handle are cast brass and show signs of the original gilding. The clocks 'face' or dial is white vitreous enamel with Roman numerals and the makers name, the dial is perfect with no hairlines , cracks or chips. The hands are the original design, popular around the mid 19th Century. The top shows a small lenticle to view the movement and the back has a latched, lift out door. The clock is shown fully restored. We have completely overhauled the clock and it is sold with a 24 Month Guarantee in writing. This is a very attractive and small mantel clock in wonderful condition and by a very well known and respected clock maker Henry Marc, his company produced high quality clocks throughout the 19th Century and often are portable small clocks. We would rather not ship this clock and would prefer collection in-store.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
