Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The 8-day movement is chain-driven fusee and is fitted with its 8-inch dial and original blued steel "spade" hands. A high quality, very pretty and quite rare drop-dial wall clock.

Jonathan Jones (c1837-1910) worked at 338, The Strand, London having succeeded his father at the same premises. He is described as a man of "high attainment" having been Vice President of the BHI. He retired in 1885 and died aged 94 in 1910.
