19th Cent Mahogany Moon Dial Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

A very smart mahogany longcase clock with the desirable moon phase indicator to the arch. It is by Samuel Tyte of Wookey, Wiltshire.

The case is in well figured mahogany and is nice and slim and of good proportions. The base is cross banded in mahogany as is the trunk door. The hood has slim reeded columns with brass capitals. At the top is a Greek key moulded cornice and above this is an elegant swan neck pediment.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a nice original un-restored dial with an attractive moon phase indicator to the arch.

The case is in good condition and the movement that looks to have been recently restored is in good working order (including the moon) and is complete with weights, pendulum, bell and a winding key.

The maximum dimensions are:

51cm(20“) wide

221cm(87“) high

26cm(10.5“) deep

You are welcome to collect but if you can’t we can arrange delivery within England and Wales for £85.00, for other destinations please email for a quotation.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
