Georgian Cent Oak & Mahogany Longcase Clock

18th century
Description

A nice 18th Cent longcase clock with a stylish architectural case. It is by Thomas Moss of Frodsham, Cheshire. He is listed as working there from around 1760 and he died in 1785.

The case is in oak with mahogany banding. It stands on small bracket feet and has a raised and cross banded panel to the base. The trunk has reeded quarter columns and a shaped top door. The door has its original lock and key. The hood has slim reeded columns with brass capitals. At the top is a stylish broken pediment with dentil moldings.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a very smart brass dial with silvered chapter ring, subsidiary seconds hand and unusual centre date hand.

The case is in good unrestored condition. The movement is in good working order and is complete with pendulum, weights, bell and winding key.

The maximum dimensions are:

59cm(23“) wide

210cm(82.5“) high excluding centre finial (+ 6cm)

28cm(11“) deep

You are welcome to collect but if you can’t we can arrange delivery within England and Wales for £85.00, for other destinations please email for a quotation.
