A beautiful ormolu (fine gilded brass / bronze) and white marble desk clock. The finely cast figure is intriguingly modelled as a theatrical allegory. He wears a jesters cap and holds a jesters stick for 'comedy'. At his feet is a classical mask for 'tragedy' or 'drama' and scattered on the base are musical instruments. The crisp white marble contrasts very nicely with the ormolu which is in excellent condition.

The dial is enamel on copper with the most delicately painted floral swags between the roman hours. It is complete with original finely fretted gilt brass hands and convex glass.

The French movement is of very high quality and has the clockmakers mark Vincenti et Cie on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish to the ormolu and there are no losses. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding. Marble is also very good with just the occasional nibble to the edges. The dial is also excellent with no chips or scratches.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
