Fine English Satinwood Four-glass Clock by Dent

19th century
Description

DENT: a small and very fine quality English "Four-Glass" MANTEL CLOCK in immaculate condition.

The pretty case is of satinwood, with bevelled glass panels to the sides and top, is supported on adjustable cast brass compressed bun feet. The 8-day chain-driven fusee movement is complete with its fine precision pendulum, whilst the silvered and engraved dial sits within an inner gilded 'slip' frame. The blued steel "poker" hands are original as is the brass winding key. 9ins high (maximum)

***Edward John Dent (1790-1853) a very famous clockmaker, earned the Royal Warrant in 1841 and was awarded the contract to make the clock in Big Ben in 1852
